  • Community Service

  • Community Service
The focus of Horse About, Inc. is to create a community service circle involving horses, people facing special challenges, and members of the community who have special resources to share. Each participant in the circle has something to offer and ultimately benefits in return, enriching the entire community.

The participants, in addition to benefiting from their interaction with the horses, gain self-esteem by completing a service project for the horses or the hosting facility sometime during the program. As well, volunteers are an integral part of Horse About, Inc.. High school students with horse experience help with the programs and receive service hours required for graduation. University students have received credit as interns, either working directly with the programs or providing capacity building projects such as volunteer recruitment and screening programs, and database design.
